At Home Espresso: Delicious and Affordable

Do you love coffee but hate paying $3-$7 per coffee at Starbucks or any other coffee shop? Well, you're not alone. I'm a person that drinks coffee EVERY day. Hypothetically speaking, if I were to buy a coffee from Starbucks daily (using an average of $5 per drink), that would average out to $35/week, $140/month, and $1,680/year -- that's wild and almost unreasonable. Now, I'm not saying to NEVER go through the Starbucks drive through, go on and treat yo self when you need to. Heck, I'm not even saying not to go to Starbucks every day, I'm just showing you the reality of what that looks like for your bank account.

As an alternative let me show you what investing in an espresso machine and quality coffee looks like. It was almost two years ago, I was visiting my best friend Cadi and she asked me if I wanted to try some latin espresso -- Café Bustelo, (I NEVER turn down free coffee, it could even be cold and the great value brand LOL, but never would I ever turn down free coffee). So, of course I tell her yes. So she brews the espresso in her little Mr. Coffee Espresso machine (which, two years later we lost it under the couch, don't ask), she then added the Kroger brand vanilla caramel creamer. I'm not even joking you, to this day, it is still the best coffee drink I've ever had in my life.

So now, let's look at the comparable cost of investing in daily espresso at home. You can buy a 36 oz. of Café Bustelo for $12.24 and that will last you a good 2-3 months as you only use a few tablespoons to make espresso. The Kroger brand vanilla caramel creamer is $3.50 but sometimes you can catch it on sale for $1.89. You can find a Bella espresso machine on Amazon for 50% (originally $59.99 on sale for $29.99) off click here to check it out. Looking at total cost on average for a year + investment in an espresso machine you'd be at a cost of ($73.44 (coffee) + $42 (creamer not on sale) + $30 (espresso machine) total of $145/year). If you made espresso at your home versus going to Starbucks everyday you'd literally be saving over $1,500/year. Mind blown. Not to mention, Café Bustelo has an amazing back story. It's a Cuban coffee that originated in 1928 by a Spaniard by the name of Gregorio Bustelo who grew his company out of East Harlem, New York. I just seriously love this coffee, it's strong, bold, but extremely smooth.

Leave me a note in the comment section with your favorite type of coffee and how you make it!
